Easter Egg Hunt
The 2026 Easter Egg Hunt is in the books and it was a great success! Thanks to the community for coming out to celebrate and have fun with us at the Lurman! It was great to see so many families enjoying the hunt and getting to take photos with the Easter Bunny. We hope you had as much fun as we did and hope to see you again next year!
A big THANK YOU also to our friends at the Lurman as well as Baltimore County Rec and Parks for their support and allowing us to use the space to host this cherished community event.
Recent Community Donations
One of the ways we contribute to the youth in our community is by providing donations to other organizations that are aligned with our mission and ideals. We believe that strong, resilient, well rounded adolescents pay dividends down the line as they grow and eventually become the stewards of civic responsibility themselves.
One such organization promoting and supporting this ideal is NICA, the National Interscholastic Cycling Association. NICA, in their own words, uses mountain bikes as a tool to build strong minds, bodies, character, and community and we are thrilled to support that mission with a monetary donation this year.
During our April meeting we passed a motion to contribute $500 to NICA in support of youth mountain biking and the strength, resilience, and character that it brings to the developing youth and future volunteers in our community.
We also recently hand-delivered our donations to Lighthouse and the Catonsville Co-Op, thanks to members Jack Kinnally and John Jacob, respectively, for hand delivering these checks to some outstanding community organizations!

If you aren't familiar, Lighthouse has been providing compassionate, skilled mental health care to clients of all ages and from all walks of life for over 50 years. In particular, Lighthouse aims to prevent poor outcomes for children and youth, including those at risk of self-harm, substance use, school failure, and involvement with the juvenile justice system. Meanwhile, the Catonsville Cooperative Preschool is a family participation school in Catonsville that has been teaching children through play for 80 years! They offer programs for children from 18 months to four years old.
Both of these organizations are doing outstanding work and we couldn't be happier to support them as we seek to make an impact in the community.
CHS Scholarships and Senior Awards Ceremony
On the topic of annual donations, we mentioned in a recent newsletter that we also contributed two Gary W. Bernhard Community Impact Scholarships for Catonsville High School seniors. As part of this annual program, we'll be at Catonsville High School's Senior Awards ceremony on Thursday, May 21st to congratulate and celebrate the recipients of our scholarships as well as the rest of the class of 2026!
Family Movie Night
Save the date for our first (hopefully of many) FREE Family Movie Night on Friday, May 22nd at 8pm at the Lurman (rain date: Saturday, May 23rd). We'll be showing the 90's classic The Sandlot with fresh popcorn, candy, and beverages available for purchase at the concession stand. All concession sales proceeds go directly to the CMCA and will be used to fund further community events and donations, such as those described in this very newsletter!
Sound like fun? If so, bring your blankets, chairs, and the whole family to kickoff the summer with the CMCA at the Lurman! Just like the Lurman Concert Series, we must strictly insist on No Alcohol, smoking, or vaping of any kind on the Lurman or High School grounds. We want to be respectful to our friends at the Lurman and the County who have graciously allowed us to use this space, so please help us do our part by doing yours.
