Can you believe it’s the middle of May already? This month our newsletter is filled with all things fun and exciting happening with our organization and our community, you won’t want to miss it! We appreciate you following along as we continue to make strides for our association’s purpose.
Trivia Fundraiser
We recently hosted our first ever Trivia Fundraiser and I'm thrilled to share that it was a ton of fun and a very successful event for us! So much work went into planning and arranging this event by members and volunteers and we had a generous amount of community support as well.
As part of the event, we had amazing prizes for our first, second, and third place team winners as well as a large assortment of locally donated items on hand for our fundraiser guests. These items were graciously donated by several of the most generous local businesses around including Kelsey's Restaurant, Jennings Cafe, The Food Market - Columbia, Franco's, Pat's Porch, Catonsville Scoops, The Breadery, Tastee Zone, Opie's, Atwater's, and Oakdale Fine Wine & Spirits. These businesses support us and the community, so please be sure to support them!
There is no way we could have pulled this off and made it as successful as it was without the generosity of our donors and all of the people that purchased event tickets, raffle tickets, grab bags, and came out to support us.
We especially want to give an incredibly big thank you to Kelsey’s for their outstanding service and hospitality, their private room was perfect for our event! From the planning phase to the day of the big event, everything was easy to arrange and fun to plan. We couldn’t have done this without them. Thank you!
Before leaving we heard from many of our guests how much they were looking forward to a rematch so if you’re interested in attending, start brushing up on your trivial knowledge now cause there was definitely some steep competition in the room!
Outdoor Movie Reminder
Now onto an event you can attend in less than one week! On Friday May 22nd we're hosting our first Outdoor Family Movie Night, at the Lurman Woodland Theater. Start picking out your spots on the lawn at 8pm and we'll start The Sandlot, rated PG, around 8:30 as the sun tucks itself behind the horizon.
As of now the weather is looking good for us, should things change we will announce updates on our Facebook page and the Lurman’s Facebook page. We have the Lurman reserved on Saturday the 23rd in case of rain on Friday the 22nd!
Don’t forget to bring your blankets and chairs, and pack a flashlight if you like for walking back to your car at the end of the night. The Lurman does have lights we will turn on after the movie. If you need driving or parking information please see here. Also while you are there check out the 2026 concert schedule! The season starts on Saturday June 6th with a local favorite, the Catonsville High School Steel Band! Also please be informed the Lurman does not permit pets, alcohol, smoking, or drugs of any kind. Please respect these rules.
Last but not least what’s a movie without a trip to the concessions stand? We will be selling fresh popped popcorn, candy, water, soda, and capri sun at the concessions stand. All proceeds will go to the CMCA which in turn will help fund more community events in the future… hopefully a Summer Send Off Outdoor Family Movie Night!!
CHS Scholarship Award Ceremony
On Thursday May 21st two CMCA members, Sandy Steeves and Colin Armstrong, will be presenting two seniors with the Gary W. Bernhard Community Impact Scholarship at the Catonsville High School Senior Awards Ceremony. We're thrilled to support two graduating seniors as they pass through one of life's major milestones!
